FOUR PRACTICE LINES · ONE FILE STANDARD

The work we do, and the partners who sign it off.

Eleven partners across two offices, each line led by a named partner with their direct line printed on the card. Lexcel-accredited file standards apply across every matter, from a Yate first-time buy to a Clifton commercial lease.

Sales, purchases, leasehold, remortgages

Residential Conveyancing

Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, lease extensions, new builds, remortgages. Six conveyancers across Portland Square and Winterbourne, so the Yate first-time buyer and the Clifton terrace sale are both handled by the office closest to the property.

Partners Mark Griffiths, Laura Burnard, Nichola Foreman, Tom Gabb, Simon Twose, Helen Taylor
Divorce, finances, child arrangements

Family Law

Divorce, financial consent orders, separation agreements, child arrangements, home rights notices. Four partners across both offices, a senior associate in support, and published technical commentary on the distinction between a consent order and a separation agreement.

Will drafting, lasting powers of attorney, estate administration, trusts and tax planning. Private-client work led from Portland Square, the room a £400k probate wants to be signed in. The full Lexcel file standard applies to every estate.

SINCE 1973 · FIFTY-TWO YEARS ON BRISTOL

1973. Henriques Griffiths opens as a Bristol solicitors' practice.

The "Griffiths" on the door is Mark Griffiths, our Senior Partner, who qualified in 1977 and has done residential conveyancing on Bristol property since then. The "Henriques" on the door is the founding partner whose name we have kept on the brass plate for half a century.

The firm was incorporated as a Limited Liability Partnership on 26 March 2012 (Companies House OC373752), the modern corporate vehicle for a 52-year practice. Phillip Hogan has held the commercial-property seat since the day of incorporation. Margaret Grundy took the private-client seat in 2014. Eleven partners answer to the same Portland Square front door.

SPECIALISM · THE PARK HOMES FILE

The specialist seat most Bristol firms do not staff.

Park homes litigation is its own corner of property law. The Mobile Homes Act 1983, the 2013 Act, the implied terms of the pitch fee review, and the Park Homes Act 2024 sit in a body of statute that most generalist firms send out. Sam Mayer, partner at Portland Square, runs the file as a standing line of work, not a one-off referral.

The cases are unglamorous and specific. A pitch-fee dispute that needs the RPI formula run on the right April figure. A sale-blocking refusal from a site operator that needs the section 8 notice answered correctly. A site-rules variation that arrived without consultation. We have run them for residents across the South West for over a decade, and the file standard is the same one a Lexcel auditor will open.

If the brass-plate work is residential conveyancing, the underwriting is the park homes file. It is what proves the specialism, and it is the kind of work a 2026 site should surface, not bury.

FAQ · FIVE QUESTIONS WE GET MOST

Quick answers, then the form or the phone for the rest.

Are you a Lexcel-accredited firm?

Yes. The Law Society's Lexcel quality mark is held firm-wide, and we have been recognised for pro-bono work. Our SRA registration number is 567623, and we are LLP OC373752 on the Companies House register. Every file is opened, conducted and closed to the same Lexcel standard, whether it is signed in Portland Square or in Winterbourne.

Which office should I contact for residential conveyancing?

If the property is in central Bristol, Clifton, Cotham, Bishopston or Redland, Portland Square is closer. If it is in Winterbourne, Frampton Cotterell, Coalpit Heath, Yate, Iron Acton or anywhere on the South Gloucestershire commuter belt, Winterbourne is the walk-in office. Either way, your file lands with one of six conveyancers, and we will tell you on the first call which office suits the move.

Do you handle park homes disputes?

Yes. Sam Mayer leads a specialist park-homes litigation line out of Portland Square, covering disputes between park-home residents and site operators across the South West. It is an unusually specialist seat that most generalist firms do not staff. If you have a pitch-fee dispute, a sale-blocking refusal, or a site-rules question, that is the line to ask for.

How quickly will I hear back if I send the contact form?

Enquiries that arrive during office hours are answered the same working day. Out-of-hours and weekend enquiries reach the relevant partner's inbox first thing the next working morning. Both offices are open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. For genuine urgency outside those hours, info@henriquesgriffiths.com is read.

Can I email a partner directly?

Yes. Every partner has a direct mailbox on the [first_initial][last]@henriquesgriffiths.com pattern, printed on their card in the roster above. The firm-wide address info@henriquesgriffiths.com is the right one for first-time enquiries; once a file is open, your partner's direct line is the fastest route.
